I really love Marcus Foster's lyrics, here just a few examples:

"Have you ever seen the haunted ancient morning sweep the stars out from the sky"

"Muffled sound is scattered in the street that's lit by moon"

"There's a bird at the window with smoke in his lungs singing off key"

"You got to drink up the dark that spills onto the night"

"The morning lays a frosted sheet of gold along the plane"

"You embrace the silence of the night until you try to fill it up with silence"

"The silent sky is folding up the evening with the same old sigh"

"As the morning spreads the light another feeling sheds its skin
As the day is worn the right way round its twisted from within"

"And only restless silent thoughts exactly know just what you mean"

"I am taken by the ghostly fog that spills from your eyes"

"I can't conquer all the crooked land that fills up your mind"

And so on . . .
I just love the words he chooses, all those vivid images. <3

So, I saw The Fith Estate today and I have to say I understand why the reviews are mixed. You just can't really feel for or connect with any of the characters, which is something that is important to me. The film is mostly a whole bunch of information thrown at you with a few bits and pieces of something that was possibly intended to be something like a storyline. The directing is good, some choices very interesting and the performances are also very good, although they could have let German people speak German while in Germany surrounded only by other German speaking people^^ Benedicts performance is, of course, also wonderful, but the writing is just too bad. It seemed like the makers of the film simply did not know where they wanted to take it or what they wanted to do with the material they had.

Sounds great! Count me in

PS: I can also invite anyone who'd like to come to a homemade Sachertorte (Austrian Chocolate Cake) and tea (to keep it 'sherlockian')

Hello!

I love going to the cinema (especially with one of the sherlock gang starring) but I know noone who shares this passion.

I tought I give it a try here to find some like-minded people.

So my question is: Is anyone currently living/staying in London and wants to meet up to watch The Fifth Estate with a fellow Cumberbabe?

Would be great if I dont have to go on my own

Seen it yesterday - in OV of course. It's an ok film, a bit choppy, too many scenes felt overacted.  Ben, of course, was great but they could have expanded on his character more, make him more a part of the movie. To me it seemed that they just wouldn't let the audience think for themselves and try to figure out what's going on. It was just too obvious, not very gripping. Sorry JJ! I love LOST but this is just not doing it for me. :/ - first disappointment with a Cumberbatch film, had to happen eventually ;D

I mainly listen to singer/songwriter, folk, indie, etc. music.
At the moment that includes singers/bands like Marcus Foster, Johnny Flynn, Ben Howard, Matthew & the Atlas, Joker & the Thief (oh that saxophone!) , Laura Marling, Noah & the Whale, Josh Ritter (great storyteller), Dan Mangan, Youth Group, Decemberists, Long Winters, Band of Horses, Catherine Feeny, Joe Purdy, Lisa  Hannigan, Damien Rice, Eels, Frightened Rabbit, Angus & Julia Stone, Bright Eyes, Shout Out Louds, Wilco . . . just to name a few

I never listen to the radio and always buy the CD as I don't like mp3 .

Thank you all & Danke ;)

@Marheri: Indeed I am.

@m0r1arty: I have no idea. I didn't even notice that it was called Kaltzberg. Interesting! I googled around a bit and I think it's actually just the festival that's called Kaltzberg Festival. But I've never heard of it before. Maybe there once was a Kaltzberg Festival that now doesn't exist anymore or it's simply made up. ;)

Hi

I thought I'll introduce myself real quick.

I'm Mara (hence the not so creative nickname). I'm a 21 year old Sherlockian from Salzburg (Mozart, Sound of Music & all that), Austria.

I was introduced to Sherlock through The Hobbit/Martin. Since then I've also become a huge Benedict Cumberbatch fan (especially in love with Mr Talbot and Mr Tietjens).

When I'm not watching Sherlock (for the100th time) I read books (in English), watch other movies/series (in English) and plan my next visit to England. I guess that makes me an anglophile. ;) I also enjoy horseback riding, cycling, good/rather unknown music and spending some one-on-one time with my cat Mr. (Fitzwilliam) Darcy.

That's it from me Please ask if there are any open questions. And feel free to correct spelling/grammar mistakes that I might make - I'm here to improve my English ;)
