Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

Why does anybody assume that Lady Smallwood wants a romantic relationship with Mycroft? That's not what is mentioned in the second-best cut of the whole four seasons (The best one was in TEH, imho).

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

I do think it's implied.

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

She did invite him to ask her out for a date.

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

As far as I remember (does anybody else have difficulty accessing https://arianedevere.dreamwidth.org/ ? I can't check the transcript) she invited him for a drink of his choice and sex was "implied" (well, actually spelled out) by the cut. Not the same thing as a romantic relationship...

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

So Lady S just wanted a one night stand?
I don't know, it seems they are long standing good friends.

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

Maybe.

Though I wouldn't put it past her to engage in a little sexual harrassment in retaliation for being locked up and interrogated by Mycroft...

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

And that means she must be happy about it? She didn't sound it...

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

Of course she wasn't, but I'm sure she accepted his apology.

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

No actually, she didn't, not really; that's why we get to see the wonderful bit of dialogue that started this thread:

LADY SMALLWOOD (turning to him): You sound cross. Am I going to be taken away by security
again?
MYCROFT: I have, I think, apologised extensively.
LADY SMALLWOOD: You haven’t made it up to me.
MYCROFT: And how am I supposed to do that?
FAITH (offscreen): Sex.

(Text from Ariane de Vere's transcript, emphasis from me)

And in answer to Lola Red's opening post: To me it does not look like Mycroft getting himself anything but like Lady Smallwood (planning on) having some fun.

Re: Mycroft and Lady Smallwood

Personally i dont think there would be much romantic sentiment attached. We all know mycroft is a queen. I see him as someone who likes to sleep around. Like a bunny lol but not much emotional attachment. (That being said i do love him paired off with anthea buuut thats a whole other ball game.) i can see him having multiple partners (except john/sherlock/lestrade….not against mycroft/lestrade by the way, i just don’t understand it since they dont share screen time except maybe once or twice.)

He is not alarmed by sex & teases sherlock about it & from what sherlock said at the wedding “ive either caught you in a compromising position or exercising” i would think sherlock is used to walking in on mycroft with a random partner on more than one occasion.

I also think both mycroft & sherlock rely more on bdsm than emotion. Irene adler has sherlock in a tizzy & benedict himself once said that sherlock is no longer virgin once he meets irene & if we go by all the books, i dont need to mention nero wolfe, their son. Mycroft thoroughly enjoys watching sherlock get beat up & sherlock doesnt seem to mind so much either.

So anything could happen with smallwood but at the same time, he does owe her so a drink is fine. He is better at having friends than sherlock is. I could see him having a fling with her but unless he is getting older & feeling a need to settle, i dont see it lasting much beyond anything quick & physical.

As for their age difference, it doesnt matter so long as both are adults. They are both well over the age of 21 so it should be fine.
