Last Tango in Halifax

My parents and I just finished watching this show (we watched 2 episodes a night, so it would have taken us 10 days). We enjoyed it, though my mum and I agreed that the Christmas special was not as good as the rest of the series. Still, we really enjoyed it. The plot was always going somewhere, always lots happening. It was nice to see Rupert Graves in another role, though most of the rest of the cast was unfamiliar to me (but they were all good).
I couldn't help but draw a comparison to Sherlock in the third series:

After Kate dies, Caroline keeps talking to Kate and imagining her. It was like when John would see Mary after she died. But I believe Last Tango came out first. Don't know if there's a connection or not, but I liked how that was used in both shows.
