Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

I can accept continuity errors, they just don't bother me at all.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

But sometimes continuity error appears to be not the error, but very important hint...

It's after Mycroft talks about the Samarra/Sumatra story.  It explodes and becomes a smashed Thatcher bust.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

EDIT: oh sorry, another cross post.
I vaguely remember...

Of course...but I'm trying to think of any we have seen in Sherlock to date?
That is, I can't think of any things we thought were clues, that actually turned out to be so.
I only remember the different tie thing, which indeed turned out to be just a continuity error.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

But, unlike in other productions, they might be important (at least that's the impression I have) but one cannot tell one from another.
BTW, did we have anything that might be considered a goof, that turned out to be important in S1-3 (beside JL theories)?

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

This is exactly my point, JP.
All I have  is a long list of wild theories from others, which I didn't believe at the time and I feel I have so far been proved right.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

Okham's Razor works also in this case. At least most of the time.

Has always worked for me so far.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

Just another point - we've been told that TLD is "trippy", and it does look like it may contain parts that aren't real (just guessing).  I think we need TST to be real in contrast.   A kind of anchor for the start.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

They do like their trippy, don't they?!

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

From the Setlock and those snippets we were shown it certainly will be trippy. A lot.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

Well, it looks like TST was pretty much real, thankfully!

Not sure about if I like it this way though.

Incidentally on the dvd commentary, Mark and Steven discuss that Mycroft has several offices.

Just seen your post kgreen...er no thank you, not really my thing.

Not really your thing, huh? =)

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

I do like it this way, JP.  I'm very pleased that it was real.  It feels like they're telling a proper story, that events in S3 lead to events in S4 and so on, rather than everything being vague and mind-palacey.   They have actually been quite restrained in their use of mind palace this time!

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

But why the weird changes in the set? Why the effort if it means nothing? This is my main problem. :-)

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

Maybe they lost some of the old set...it has been known.
I have to say I rarely notice stuff like set, I'm too busy looking at characters and listening to dialogue.

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

The blue skull is to distinctive. And there would be an easy way to make a replica looking close enough.
But Arwel made a new one, investing a lot of work into it, merging a pic of Billy the Skull (that's a different one too, btw), ACD text and ACD portrait together. The frame even might be backlit.
I just wonder. Just wonder…

Re: TST - what is real in this episode?

Oh sorry yes, on the skull...but I think it's deliberate.
