i think back to Dallas when the whole series was a dream sequence to bring bobbie ewing back after his contract dispute was settled. it was a full season without him. i never watched the program again.  the only logical conclusion here would also be a dream sequence.  the show must have moriarity as his arch nemisis and of course sherlock. i vote for dream sequence.....

Moffat said it was when "all the stories were starting to kick off" about how Holmes survived that they thought they would "make up a bananas one".
