Re: X-files

I haven't watched it in ages but I really think I should start at the first episode and work my way through them all. Some of it was filmed in British Columbia, I believe.

Re: X-files

Mulder is one of my all-time favourite characters!

I spent far too much money on the complete boxset a couple of years ago! ;)

Re: X-files

Probably my favorite show of all-time. I remember seeing it the first time on telly back in ´96 or so and I fell in love with it that instant. Not long ago I bought the DVD box set that includes all nine seasons and both feature films and I think the first four seasons are the best TV drama ever made. The thing that makes me like this show so much is it's central characters, Scully and Mulder. They're just a perfect pair, like the round block that fits the square hole. It's their very different world views that gives the show it's edge. When Mulder gives his supernatural theories, you can bet there's Scully with her scientific explanations. I think Mulder is one of the funniest characters ever written, even though it's not a sitcom or a comedy. When I grow up, all I want to do is watch porn in my basement office, eat sunflower seeds and throw pencils on the ceiling. One of those shows where the soundtrack (by Mark Snow) is a huge part of the overall mood of the show. It's very memorable and the haunting chords from Snow's synth often create the mood of the scene with the help of low lighting and upwards camera angles. Great show. Probably my favorite one.

Re: X-files

I'm about to watch the pilot episode of The X-Files for the first time in about ten years... I used to be a huge fan of this show, but had to stop watching it when it got to about the fifth season or so, it just got too bad. But I really loved the first 3-4 seasons, and I loved Mulder and Scully. I never really thought about it before, but it's another version of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, in a way. Paranormal detectives I hope this is as good as I remember...

Re: X-files

X-Files was my last big obsession before Sherlock.  And Mulder and Scully were my first big ship.  Excited about the new episodes.  Please let them be good.

Re: X-files

I loved X-files when it first aired. I stopped watching when Mulder left the show.  Haven't seen it since, but have considered for a long time to start over again.

Same here, my first and only obsession until Sherlock came along I shipped Mulder and Scully for sure, but never expected them to actually get together, the sexual tension was too good to break.

Im not even sure I know which season I stopped watching, or what happened in the series after I stopped watching it. I just went cold turkey once I realised it wasn't good any more. I reeeaally hope the new episodes are worth watching!

Well my husband keeps falling asleep and has to get up at 5am so we didn't end up watching much of the pilot episode tonight. Will watch it tomorrow I guess. I surprised myself by managing to remember several lines of dialogue and scenes before they happened, I didn't think my memory was that good

That's just fabulous!  Two of my all time favorites.    I was psychoticly addicted to X-Files.  Ok, and David Duchovny.  *sigh*

Re: X-files

We ordered the box with all nine seasons yesterday. I have no idea when we'll find the time to actually watch it, but the announcement of those new episodes really made me want to watch it all again. I have never seen the show completely, there definitely are episodes I've never seen, simply because I missed them when they were on tv. I've never been a huge fan, but I always liked it. So it'll be familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.

Re: X-files

So we started to watch the first season last week and there are only a few more episodes to go.
And what can I say, I'm totally hooked. And I guess it's probably because the Sherlock hiatus is getting to me, but... I'm really beginning to ship Mulder and Scully with all my heart. Hell. They are just so...
I can't wait to see them, you know... grow more attached to one another.

Re: X-files

Aaaawwww... good old days. How long ago since I watched the show the last time? 10 years at least. Think I should watch it again before the new episodes start.
And yes, Scully and Mulder also are the first characters of a show I started to ship.
Do you remember what happened in the end? If not, I don't want to spoil you.

I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I think there are whole seasons I have never seen... the first season is one of them, as I have discovered just now, I think I only knew two or three episodes. I know that I saw the first movie, but I'm not sure I ever saw the second one. I know about the baby, I know about Scully vanishing and Mulder vanishing... but there are lots of things I haven't got a clue about. So... lots of things to look forward to, I suppose.

Re: X-files

I think after 10 or more years that I didn't watch the X-Files I will be surprised of most of the storylines as well. Can't remember that much to be honest.

Re: X-files

tonnaree...

gently, surprisingly enough, I seem to remember some of the story arcs. And there is one episode title I will never forget, don't ask me why, it's "Tunguska". I think the episode consists of two parts and is pretty dark and has that typical X-feeling to it...

Re: X-files

I could be wrong, but whenever I think about "Tunguska" I see a train and I see darkness. And there was something going on in that train. But like I said, I could be wrong.
By the way, did anyone ever read or hear about David and Gillian not getting along at all...? I seem to remember reading about this back then, and watching the show again now this totally confuses me. Because there is so much chemistry between them on screen...! And then there are pics like this one (I know, this is rather recent, but still...):

Aaaaand they both were so keen on doing new episodes... hard to believe that there should have been any kind of disharmony between them.
