1. Johnlock. I don't see much chance of this in S4. Look at Holmes and Watson's replies, to Moriarty's infamous 'elopement' line. 'Impudence', says Watson, as though he was addressing his maid. "Offensive' says Holmes. Wow. That's bad. I don't remember him ever referring to anything else as being 'offensive'.  Strong condemnation of the idea of elopement, indeed.
..

My thoughts. I would have thought of this scene as a great Johnlock moment if Watson had been the only one to take offence. That's what had always happened in the show: people think they're a couple, John takes offence but Sherlock never clearly reacts (he doesn't take offence but doesn't deny either, he just seems not to be bothered by what people think about his relationship with John). But here, for the first time, Sherlock has his say and for someone who's hardly offended by anything, he uses the word "Offensive", meaning "morally repugnant", that's quite strong, indeed... http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/errr.png
Unless it's only for a comical purpose. Then something may escape me...

As for Mycroft, I don't remember any mention of his death in the canon. But I read the books many years ago (I'm currently re-reading them, but i'm only through the Memoirs) and I may be wrong. But if I'm not mistaken, then that'll be my consolation. Sure, they don't follow the canon word for word, far from it, but still... Oh, please, Mofftiss, keep your hands off my Mycroft and let Sherlock lose his MP bet with his brother! http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/lol.png
I don't remember having ever been so attached to a fictional character as I am to Mycroft... except maybe Severus Snape in Harry Potter... His death wouldn't make me stop watching the show, but I'd be really, really bitter...

Re: Clues for Season 4

As others have said. I am sure they will only get rid of Mycroft if they feel the need to...for whatever reason.
But I certainly hope they don't.

Re: Clues for Season 4

I didn't even notice how strong the rejection was (most likely because I love my boys deeply in agape, I don't particularly want them in a sexual relationship, especially since I believe that Sherlock is asexual).

concerning John's marriage, somehow he is married again in some of the stories which are later set. ACD was very loose with details like this.

Re: Clues for Season 4

Well as long as she survives the season, my S4 prediction for John is that he will still be both married to and living with Mary. Whether or not they have a child, is a different matter.
Basically I feel John and Mary will only be separated by death.
Even if John does end up back at 221B(which I obviously hope he does), it will just be like before...they will still need the second bedroom, Mrs Hudson!

Re: Clues for Season 4

Not really a clue, but the big cliffhanger for the end of HLV was whether Moriarty was alive.  (And another cliffhanger was Mary).  Both of those cliffhangers have been kind of resolved in TAB, so is there a need now for S4 to follow directly after?  S2 did, but S3 had a two year gap.   Sherlock's comment at the end about knowing what Moriarty is going to do next strongly suggests that they are going to continue where we left off.   But there's still the possibility to jump into the present day (2017 by the time we see it!).

I'm just thinking of poor Amanda having to be pregnant for years!   It would be kind of funny if they actually set all of S4 while she was still pregnant!

I think that they will continue where they left off...but they might do a time jump during the season. They did so beforehand, remember? In season 2.

That's right!

And to stay true to canon, Mary will have to die, and so the baby will have to do the same.

The baby is really troublesome. Don"t know how there gonna sort this out , but I bet it will be clever and unexpected as always.

I hope so and given the choice, I'd rather keep Mycroft!

Re: Clues for Season 4

Yeah, I agree.  Even though Mycroft isn't prominent in every storyline of the show, it wouldn't be the same without him.  No more interventions, no more verbal sparring with his brother.

Re: Clues for Season 4

Well, unless Mark Gatiss has decided that he doesn't want an acting role on "Sherlock" anymore, I think we can safely assume that his character will still be in the series.

Re: Clues for Season 4

I'm just refusing to think too much about Mycroft dying.  I really hope it doesn't happen, no matter how well it's done.  And I don't want to spend the time before S4 worrying about it!

Re: Clues for Season 4

Yeah! I remember the special seemed so far away this summer as I was looking at the set photos, but I couldn't believe it was already here when the special finally came out.  Seeing the set photos gives us something new to look forward to in the meantime, really makes it feel closer than just a distant future event.

Re: Clues for Season 4

I think if JK Rowling would write the scripts I'd be shouting my prediction of Mycroft's death from the rooftops. Or the writers of Lost, who basically killed any character whose arc was finished. However, Moftiss seem to have a different approach, so I'm not really buying this theory. I don't think they'll kill him because:

1. It's not canon. Although they're not following canon very stricktly, killing canon characters just for shock value seems a bit far fetched to me.
2. They're still having a lot of fun with the character. The humour, the caring, the resentment, the underlying pain, there's still a lot they can do with that character.
3. They might find the potential deus ex machina element of the character really handy in case they get into trouble and there's a deadline.
