Clues for Season 4

I wonder if there are some hidden hints what is about to come. After all, Sherlock says that he now knows what Moriarty will do next. So, what in the mind palace gave him the right hint? Plus, I have the feeling that the writers are trolling us (again). For example the time until Mycroft dies. Three years four month and eleven days...it could be the time between season 3 and 4.

Re: Clues for Season 4

I wouldn't call it clues but foreshadowing (and it's totally my own opinion):
1. Mycroft is going to die
2. Mary will play an even more important role in the show than in S3
3. Moriarty will not appear again, he is definitely dead

The foreshadowing of Mycroft's death seemed almost too heavy handed. I guess I'm in denial that they would kill off my favorite character, but I'm hoping it is a red herring to throw us off track.
However, if they do it I wouldn't be surprised if his killer ends up being Mary. In his MP, Sherlock believes she is just as clever if not more so ( breaking MI5 security on her phone & finding information on the old case). Also, it would make his death even more devastating and complex.

Yes, I had the idea with Mary killing Mycroft, too.

Re: Clues for Season 4

I wanted to dance a dance of happiness when Sherlock said that Moriarty is definitely dead.   I do believe that the whole situation with a group of women all representing "The Bride" foreshadows the fact that there are some remnants of Moriartiy's network that are intent on continuing his legacy.

.Although it gives me no pleasure to admit it, count me in on those fearing for Mycroft's life in S4.

Someone seemed to feel that Mary's portrayal in TAB signified that she might actually be being set up to take Mycroft's place.   Should this occur I will throw myself off the Reichenbach falls.

Someone mentioned the p

Re: Clues for Season 4

I actually think that they just advertised a useful skill for Mary to have which would allow her to take a place in the plot which is still open: She is a hacker. Sherlock and Mycroft are smart and skilled with computers, but they aren't hackers. After all, they specialize, they aren't able to do everything. Having someone on hand who can research in places which are usually closed to Sherlock unless he either uses Mycroft's ID or authority would be quite the asset.

Re: Clues for Season 4

It would definitely break my heart if they'd kill him off (come on, Mark, you're having too much fun playing Mycroft to put an end to it, really????) as he's been my fav character since ASIP too!

Yet the "gambling with your life" really frightens me...

We know Mycroft is very clever. But we also know there is nothing more important to him than Sherlock and that he would do anything, absolutely anything to protect his little brother. Anything could as well be "gambling with his own life". Sacrificing himself for Sherlock's life. I can definitely imagine him doing that. He could make a dangerous deal with whoever from Moriarty's "army" (Mary???!!) just to protect Sherlock and that despite his intelligence it would end up being fatal to him...

Yet i'd rather not think about it...

After watching TAB three time I honestly think that scene with Mary effortlessly hacking secure government files on a cell phone actually take place in the MP.  There are indications that every scene on the plane is not real.  The way Mary is shown here represents Sherlock's fear of her being more clever not only than him but of Mycroft too. I don't think Sherlock can forgive himself for not recognizing Mary's danger before she shot him and if she is even smarter than Mycrft, whom he admires above all, how can he ever hope to outsmart her.

Re: Clues for Season 4

I don't think that the part is set in his mind palace. After all, in the very least scene the characters are privy to information exchanged in said scene.

Re: Clues for Season 4

I suppose the big thing for me is that TAB hopefully cleared up the two big cliffhangers - Moriarty and Mary.  With such a long wait for S4, I'm glad we still don't have those hanging over us.  I'm happy to accept that Moriarty is dead, and that Mary is considered OK by Sherlock, John and Mycroft.  (I know both those things could still change ... but I'm happy to know where we are when we go into S4).

I know you are probably all right about Mycroft, but it's something I really, really don't want to think about.    And Mary replacing Mycroft - no!  For one thing, she can't - she's not Sherlock's brother, and I think it's the particular brotherly relationship that those two have that's important.  I also don't think she's supposed to be as clever as Mycroft.   I really hope this doesn't happen.
(Also I love Mycroft and don't love Mary, but that's beside the point, I know).

Re: Clues for Season 4

I don't get why she is supposedly portrayed as "smarter" just because she has some skill sets the other characters lack...she specializes.

Mycroft is so protecting of Sherlock that it's difficult for me to accept he "tolerates" Mary knowing she practically killed his little brother (yes, alright, she didn't really intend to kill him and she called an ambulance, but still !) and even if we "forget" about that incident, he knows she indirectly hurt Sherlock by taking John away from him. Either he knows things about her that i'm not aware of, either he only tolerates her because Sherlock does.

And no way she "replaces" Mycroft. That would be an enormous mistake. (oh god, i already just can't imagine the show without Mycroft!!)

Re: Clues for Season 4

Thank you punch.   We still have to deal with that fact that Mary for all intents and purposes, killed Sherlock.

I cannot in any way see Mycroft accepting the "surgery" explanation.   I believe Mycroft still has cards he is playing very close to his vests.

Re: Clues for Season 4

Perhaps there is truth in the MP, and Mycroft tolerates Mary because she is now under his thumb?

Wasn't there a deleted scene that showed Gregg rushing into Mycroft's office to tell him that Sherlock was shot and Mycroft acted like he was too busy to be bothered?
I don't think Mycroft could be replaced. He is Sherlock's 'inside' contact within the government. He is the source of secret information, surveillance, pardons, etc. As well as being the window to Sherlock's past.

I've never seen this mentioned before.  Do you recall where you heard about it?

Re: Clues for Season 4

Really?

I just remember the scene in which Greg is in Mycroft's office after Sherlock escaped from hospital: Mycroft waves him away so that he hurries up and looks for Sherlock. Maybe I have missed a thing? ?

It was a screen cap of a deleted scene. It showed Gregg standing in front of Mycroft's desk looking agitated and Mycroft is sitting looking at his computer waving Gregg away.
