Re: Hannibal

That finale. I'm going to be forever sobbing.

Re: Hannibal

I think I never cried so early in any season finale.

The scenes with Alana... her tears... her shouting... the look in her eyes.
They way she shouted at Jack - 'I TOLD YOU NOT TO PUT HIM OUT THERE' - that was so intense. Her breakdown in the car afterwards and then when she came to see Will and her small broken 'Hi'. I have tears in my eyes every time I think about that scene. And her little hopeful smile when she saw the clock... when she realised what was really wrong.

By the way, a few days ago Bryan Fuller confirmed that Abel Gideon is alive!! I'm so excited. He was there in 'Rôti', he will remember what Hannibal told him and - if he wants to - he can testify against Hannibal. The question is just if he would be seen as a reliable witness and if there would be a reason for him to help Will (who nearly killed him) and to testify against Hannibal.

Re: Hannibal

Oh, that's good! I love Eddie Izzard. The last scene reminded me of Silence of the Lambs. Sort of like a reversal of positions, a reversal of Clarice and Hannibal (but obviously with Will).

Re: Hannibal

They even used the song from Silence Of The Lambs, Vide Cor Meum.

I found the first two episodes in German yesterday. The good thing is that I can now show it to everyone and annoy people even more with talking about the show. The bad thing is that in the German dubbing Will really does sound unstable and a bit whiny and kind of out of control. He just seems different.
In the original he comes across as sensitive but strong and self-aware and I love his sassyness and his cynicism.
I never had the impression that he really was unstable, just that people called him that because they didn't understand him. Being sensitive doesn't make you mentally unstable. Hugh Dancy managed to convey this difference with his voice, the dubbing actor doesn't really do this. He is not bad but Will just comes across as so different with this voice and I'm afraid that German viewers might not like him because he sounds so whiny and a bit crazy.
And Alana sounds less sassy too and a bit like a school girl.
And they changed 'This is my design' to 'Das ist mein Ziel' ('This is my intention/aim/goal') and that just changes the meaning of the whole phrase and was so unnecessary.
Still it's better than the dubbing of Sherlock, I think. At least they know that friends don't say 'Sie' to each other, that's a small gleam of hope.

Re: Hannibal

Hm. I don't speak German, so I wouldn't go looking for dubs. It's a shame that dubbers don't usually grasp the meanings of the dialogue in the original, because that means that the non-English speaking people miss out.
Also, I didn't know about Vide Cor Meum being used. That's really cool!
EDIT: I just found out that Vide Cor Meum was specially composed for 'Hannibal' (the 2001 film).

Re: Hannibal

I am really pissed off right now. I just wanted to pre-order the dvd which will be released in September, but then I realised that most of the features will only be available on the US version. And of course I can't watch that because I have a European player. Great.

WHY THE HELL IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS SHOW

I love so much about Hannibal. I don't like all the gore, but I think Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy are awesome actors and the tension in Lecter's cat and mouse game with Will is intense!

I think you should be able to watch on Project Free TV and then stream it (not necessarily download). Pop ups will occur (just x them). I have the best luck with 'sockshare' as a streaming site for Project Free TV. Not all the links on Project Free will work, but that's how I watched all of American Horror Story and In the Flesh

(In the Flesh is a GREAT miniseries about how suicide impacts a family, and uses 'zombies' and 'partially deceased syndrome' to play out what would happen to a teenager who came back and had to live with the reality of how his family had coped after his death. It's intense and one of my favourite miniseries ever! Definitely check out).

Re: Hannibal

It is easy to find all the extras online, but I really want to buy the dvd - I want to have it at home and I want to show my appreciation for the show by actually paying for it.  It's frustrating to pay the same amount for a version that lacks all the extras.

Re: Hannibal

Are you sure your player can't work with US dvds? Some can both.

Re: Hannibal

It definitely can't.  And I don't want to pay all the money for another player just to watch that dvd...
I'll just keep hoping for an updated version.

By the way, episode one and two will air in Germany on Sat. 1 tomorrow at 10:15pm, if anyone's interested.

Re: Hannibal

I'm desperately trying to find out when it airs in Denmark.

I think I'm a little addicted to this show!

Re: Hannibal

I did not watch it when it began airing in the US at first until a close friend in Leeds started raving about it and encouraged me to watch. I think the show is more about the intense psychological relationship between the main characters than the killings.  If you have a prime Amazon membership you can currently watch the entire first series of Hannibal for free in the US. The show is brilliantly written and produced. Set design and costuming are both noteworthy and contribute greatly to the plot and characters. I dare say that Hannibal's tailor must be in close competition with Mycroft's tailor. I read somewhere that some of the suits used were from Tom Ford.
Series two began airing on Friday evening, and I was enthralled. Can't wait for the next episode. I encourage everyone to at least give it a view.
