What fun!  I doubt I'll make it to London, so hoping there's something online as well.  Any guesses as to what it is?

Edit: just noticed your post, Susi.  So it might be a play?  Let's hope it tours, if so.

I'm really enjoying Safe, and Amanda is great in it!  I think I want to finish it before watching Cargo, so will avoid the spoiler, but glad to hear it's so good!

There's also an offer on NOW TV at the moment, until the end of May - two months for the price of one, or a year's sub for less than half price.  For new subs only, I think.

I'm not able to watch it, but I was curious about it and I think I posted something about it a while ago (or maybe I just meant to!).   It reminded me of Mark Gatiss's remarks* about progress being a big detective show, where the main character is incidentally gay.  I heard it didn't get brilliant reviews, but I love Alan Cumming so would probably enjoy it!

*"That’s how the revolution happens as it were, you just become aware that people are incidentally gay. I think when the day comes that you have a big detective show where the first half hour was this man at work and he’s a maverick and all the usual things and then we went home and his boyfriend says, “Are you alright?” it was just a thing, then something would have genuinely changed. I think the problem still is it becomes the issue. I think the thing with gay characters is that it has to be an issue as opposed to being part of everyday life, which of course we all know is what it is"

Yes, I'm glad he wasn't asked ... but have to admit that I'm really curious about how he would have answered!

The press did try to make it a big thing, in that I seemed to see it everywhere for a day or too!  But thankfully, I don't think Martin got "What do you think of Benedict calling you 'pathetic'?" questions in interviews.  I still wonder what on earth Benedict was thinking, and if he really meant what he seemed to mean.

Surely he has seen the headlines about the "rift" by now?  Good on him for continuing to be gracious (and positive about S5!).

Whereabouts in Yorkshire will you be?  It's huge and there's so much to see, it's difficult to narrow it down!  Do you have any particular things you're interested in?  (History, countryside, art, museums, etc.?).  There are three national parks: Yorkshire Dales, Peak District and North York Moors, all lovely in their own way!  If you haven't had enough of the coast in Yorkshire, there are some nice coastal walks and villages.  I like the picturesque ones like Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, etc.  I love York (but I'm biased!) - lots of old buildings, history everywhere, a massive Minster, a great rail museum, will have the Shakespear Rose theatre open when you visit.   I could go on for ever, and none of these are absolute must-sees, it really depends what you're interested in!

I think you are both right, and I was being overly hopeful!  Would be fantastic if it was true!  It's possible that he could just inadvertently let something slip, perhaps even more likely to a non-English publication when he might not be so guarded.   But I don't think it fits with what he or anyone else has said previously, unfortunately.  "Never say never" sounds kind of negative too, as if he was considering saying "never", and what does he mean by a "margin for dealing"?  It's quite possible that something is lost in translation.

I'm expecting that if we do get S5 news, it won't be very soon.

Well, I don't suppose google translate is very accurate, so if it had happened that he was interviewed in English, then it was translated to Italian, and then back to English, then I'd expect it to be pretty garbled!  Does he speak Italian?  Or is the English quote the original?  Or was he interviewed in English, translated to Italian, and then the quote is translating back to English?

I actually think they've left it really open.  Although there is an ending of the Sherlock Begins era with TFP, S5 could easily be the start of the classic era.   Rosie is a slight complication, but they've always had extra non-canon characters without too much problems.

We can only hope!  This sounds like they're a lot further forward than anything else we've heard.  For Benedict to even know what stage the writing and production is at, he must be at least in contact with Moftiss, which bodes well.

There is one thing: he used the word "season", rather than "series" - we tend to say "series" in the UK, and "season" is an odd word to use for a two-week, three-episode run.  Which does make me wonder if maybe there's a slight mistake somewhere.  However, it could well be just because he works internationally these days, and I think "season" is more common outside the UK.  Or maybe he did the interview in Italian and it has been translated back to English, rather than the other way around?

I don't think there was a change of heart.  I think they took the friendship path right from the beginning (while acknowledging how shippable they were).

I feel sorry for the people who were so invested too.  I hope they were OK after S4.  I'm hoping that maybe some of them got into the last series of Doctor Who (with its gay main character - a lovely role model for young people!).

Good interview!  I love that he hasn't turned it into a feud (although he may still not be aware of Ben's comments!).  I like what he says the human stories in zombie films.
