I will leave my dissecting until later, But if this is the end, it ended as I always hoped it would.

Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson in 221B Baker Street, solving crimes.

What more can I ask for?

I have a glass of wine, some food. I think I am as ready as I ever will be.

I doubt they only did it for the fans as the money is also greatly appreciated. It was probably just Moffat talk...

It's a BBC show. I highly doubt the money is much of an initiative there, not with the kind of offers Martin and Ben have. Sherlock by now is a passion project. It will continue as long and only if all the participants still want to do it.

I will be out until shortly before the episode airs, but I wanted to take the chance and thank our moderators (and all disciplined members) for keeping this forum almost completely spoiler free. It could sometimes be forgotten in the heated arguments we sometimes have around here, but thanks to our mods (and our members) we have build an unbelievably considerate community. I have been (carefully) browsing the spoiler threads, and even there everybody is constantly trying not to ruin anything for anyone. I know some of our members have been at the screening, still I will go into tonight's episode without a clue of what to expect. Thank you all for making the extra effort to make sure everyone can enjoy tonight's episode without knowing anything they rather not know!

Also, as by tomorrow we will be once more in that strange limbo that is hiatus (or even the end of the show), idling away the hours in often passionate discussion, unable to get any new data to further back up our believes, where these things might stay unmentioned: I want you all to know that I truly enjoyed these last few weeks with all of you. It was really great to share the excitement, fear and sometimes even frustration with all of you and read what you had to say in return. I enjoyed the show even more because I could share it with you.

So to everybody on this forum:

Thanyo!

Have fun! You can talk about the non-spoilery stuff or not? I would love to hear your experience.

And thank you for reminding us. I am contemplating staying off the Sherlock-related part of the internet. Tumblr & Twitter for sure, not 100% sure what to do about the forum.

My headscratchers:

- why is Mrs. Hudson not aware of Sherlock´s plan? Didn´t she watch "Miss Me" CD with him?

I think she was aware of at least part of the plan. And did her part in it. When she saw Sherlock deteriorate, she alerted John (although Sherlock expected more comfortable means of transportation)

Maybe Lestrade really is part of their inner circle and does know what's going on - who Mary is/was, why Magnussen was shot, etc.

Wouldn´t that made him extremely hypocritical, even corrupt?
What moral right would he have to catch other criminals, if he turned a blind eye on his friends bumping people off?

While Lestrade is unsually seen as "the good copper", he is not exactly playing according to the rules. He did nothing when Sherlock told him that he was behind the CIA agents injuries in ASIB. Actually, there were only ever two police officers who actually did what police officers are supposed to do: follow protocol. And that are Donovan and (formerly) Anderson. So I would not be too surprised for Lestrade to turn a blind eye again when it comes to Sherlock.

with what she implied about the fate of the therapist, I fear Eurus is more than just a bit unbalanced. But that does not in itself exclude that she does in fact like Sherlock. As Irene Adler told us, a disguise is always a self-portrait. So not everything about it needs to be fake. Might very well be that she was in fact surprised by Sherlock's warm and caring side. Not surprisingly, if we assume that the only brother she had any contact with in the last years appears to have been Mycroft, who's caring can be quite unsettling for the affected parties.

Yes, but there is the fandom, and then there are the millions of casual viewers that the show depends on who should also be able to follow ;)

I honestly have no idea about the guard. But the thing about the nurse was stated in the episode, so I thought I may be able to al least lessen the confusion around that
